Solenn Heussaff fired back to a netizen who said that she is not a Filipino because she does not know the concept of being a true Filipino.
Kapuso actress Solenn Heussaff fired back to a netizen who said on Twitter that she is not a Filipino.
Twitter user @JoseMarioAlas posted a statement quoted from the recent interview of the actress.
In the said interview, Solenn said that she is still Filipino despite that her father is French.
The said netizen pointed out that being Filipino is more than just by nationality, instead it is more of a concept, based on the article published in Inquirer.
This is wrong, @solennheussaff. I won’t make similarities with other nationalities or races because our case is unique, but being Filipino is not about blood or nationality. Being Filipino is beyond that…
Filipino is not a race. It’s a concept, an identity.

Alas added that in order to be a true Filipino one has to immerse himself in its identity and understand its history.
With this series of tweets from netizen, Solenn Heussaff was quick to defend herself.
She pointed that the she is a Filipino by blood and by heart. The actress added that she is also aware of the Filipino culture.
I am filipino. I grew up here. I am by blood. I am by heart and i do know filipino culture. I does everything always have to be a battle in this time and age?

The netizen did not stop there, he answered Solenn with, “I am not contesting your claims of being a Filipina (not Filipino; you’re female). I am simply correcting your notion of race and blood when it pertains to our national identity.”
As the netizen pointed out that Solenn should call herself a “Filipina” and not “Filipino” because she is female, the actress showed a snippet of Wikipedia’s explanation about the term.
