Ed Sheeran Faces Copyright Accusations on his Song “Thinking Out Loud”
Ed Sheeran a British musician faces copyright accusation on his hit song “Thinking out loud”. The song was said to copy core elements from the heirs of the composer for Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” a track in 1973.
The heirs of Ed Townsend filed the copyright infringement lawsuit to Ed Sheeran, according to the filed complaint in federal court in the Southern District of New York. Regarding the sequence, rhythm, and core elements of Sheeran song was very close to Townsen composition.
It is said that the melody, harmonic progression, and rhythmic elements of “Thinking out loud” was formed central to the “Let’s Get It On” in 1973. The prosecutor is asking for damages at the jury trial in court.
Sony/ATV Publishing and Atlantic Records did not respond immediately to the case and refused to give some comments. The Lawsuit said that Sheeran copied the heart of “Let’s” repeatedly on the song. The harmony, rhythm, and the melody was very similar to the drum composition of ‘Let’s’ according to the lawsuit.
