GSIS EMERGENCY LOAN – Here is a list of the areas that are eligible for the Government Service Insurance System’s Emergency Loan this May 2019 because of El Niño.

The government social insurance institution in the Philippines that insure most of the public agency and sector employees is the Government Service Insurance System. It is commonly called GSIS.

Under the said social insurance institution, the members have to pay for the GSIS monthly contribution to avail the benefits and as well as the other offers.

The GSIS benefits and offers includes loans – the consolidated loan, the policy loan, and the emergency loan among others.

GSIS Emergency Loan

With regards to the GSIS Emergency Loan, it is open for members who are affected by the natural calamities such as typhoon and drought. Under this loan, there is a flexible payment term of up to 36 months.

To be eligible for the emergency loan application, the member-applicant should be:

  • a bona fide resident or employee of the government office within the declared calamity area;
  • be in active service and not on leave of absence without pay;
  • has no arrearages in the payment of mandatory social insurance contributions; and
  • has no loan that has been declared in default.

On its official website, the social insurance institution posts the list of areas whose residents are eligible for the GSIS Emergency Loan. For the month of May 2019, here is a list of the areas covered due to El Niño:

  • Province of Occidental Mindoro (Granting period from April 22 to May 21, 2019)
  • Province of Davao del Sur (Granting period from April 24 to May 23, 2019)
