Lea Salonga is a Filipina artist who rose to fame after her outstanding portrayal as Kim in the Boublil and Schonberg musical Miss Saigon. She is also the singing voice behind Disney princess Jasmin of animated movie, Aladdin.
She is the first ever Filipina to receive a Tony Award, and this made her as one of the brightest icons in the music industry.
Lea Salonga started her Broadway career with her now iconic debut performance as Kim. The role of Kim is very notable. Songs “Sun and Moon” and “I’d Give My Life For You” are just few of those songs Lea Salonga have sang during her portrayal as Kim.
One of the hardest songs in the show is Chris’s “Why God Why.”
Because of her versatility, Lea Salonga is not just a Broadway Diva, she serves as one of the coaches of one biggest reality singing competition in the Philippines – “The Voice”. But it doesn’t end there.
During the MCC Theater Miscast gala, Lea Salonga proved that Miss Saigon is still her forte, and it still remains in her bones.
