The recent election became controversial after former actor and now Senator Robin Padilla took the top spot. Robin Padilla rose to fame in the 1990s with his action films, where he was dubbed the “bad boy” due to his roles in those movies.
Robin has been open about his educational background, which differs significantly from other senators. Even in his English-speaking skills, there seems to be a noticeable gap compared to other senators. If you’ve seen his movies from back then, you’d know he had a strong aversion to the English language because he found it difficult to understand.
He once proposed that Senate hearings should be conducted in Tagalog to make it more understandable for everyone, which garnered various reactions from the public.
When we look at the standards for senators then compared to now, there appears to be a significant difference. Many of the current senators often rely on their popularity to win, which is also the case with Robin Padilla’s victory.
During recent Senate hearings, Padilla seemed to veer off-topic and insisted on what he believed was right, which resulted in some humorous moments for netizens and drew a considerable amount of criticism. As a result, he became trending on social media.
Here are some videos from those hearings and some of Senator Padilla’s remarks.
Robin Padilla in Senate is the best example why ignorant & stupid voters dominate in the PH, just like Trump to USA. 😳 https://t.co/sX2W73iPaf
