Depression. Familiar To Everybody, But Misunderstood By Many.
Depression can result through many in-explainable reasons: Traumatic past experiences, sever trust issues, and the like. But how is it to love a depressed person anyway? Being in a happy, stable relationship is the most challenging part of one who undergoes it.
Here are things you should know from the depressed person’s side:
- They Love “Differently”. A depressed person will show their love by calling and texting often, wanting to be with you more often than normal, they need company just to take their minds off out of despair and negativity.
- Their Affection Rises. They show great amount of affection to those who make them feel special and who take care of them all the time. They’re more affectionate and expressive than the usual.
- They Are More Creative. Unknown to some, they express their emotions through any creative activity like music, writing, painting, or sewing.
- They Find It Hard To Work Everyday. People with depression strive to focus on doing their tasks consistently, distracted all the time and more often find no meaning in doing such. Suicidal thoughts linger their mind always and feel down.
- Highly Sensitive To Music and Films. They try to invest heavily in music and movies they watch, over sympathizing to it. They try to live through imagination, hiding from reality.
- They Cry For No Reason. While this tendency is always being misunderstood by many, thinking they’re “over reacting”, they’re not. Depression make them feel abandoned and useless in life. They break down easily especially if they remembered something bad in the past.
- They Always Look For Purpose In Life. Depressed persons heavily find purpose on their job, with their friends, and on anything they do. If they don’t find it interesting, they feel upset.
- They’ll Always Find Deep Meaning In Small Things. Small things are important as they say, but for depressed persons, it’s always a requirement to find meaning in small, unnoticed things. Smiling at them, compliments and thanking them in small ways are already a big deal.
- They Try To Be Productive. It’s always a nightmare for them to be alone, in a room, house or any place that thy don’t have any companion. They tend to be lazy if no one’s motivating or nobody’s around to see them watch what they’re doing.
- They Strive To Be Happy and Spontaneous. They always find any unusual activity that would make them feel “high” and excited such as roller coaster rides, car racing, dancing in a disco bar. They do it because they want to feel the rush of adrenaline that could make them feel alive and happy.
Try to be patient and understand more with them, instead of judging them or complaining.
