Aside from being famous and regarded as the most well-traveled pope, he is always remembered as the most charming pope (so far) by many, loved and adored by different races both by the youth and young at heart.
On this day in 2005 was his last day on earth and here are some facts about him you would love to know about:

⦁ Two million people from different countries gathered in Vatican City during his fun3ral, the biggest fun3ral in history
⦁ First non-Italian to hold the position as pope since 16th century
⦁ He was a son of Polish Army Lieutenant, also named Karol, her mother a schoolteacher
⦁ His brother, Edmund is a doctor in Bielsko, Poland
⦁ He has never seen his sister, Olga, for she di3d before the pope was born
⦁ Young Karol likes playing soccer during the time, always the one volunteering to join the Jewish team to even out the number of players
⦁ He made his First Holy Communion at age 9, and was confirmed at age 18
⦁ While enrolled in Jagieollonian University in 1938, he joined “Studio 38” – a theatrical group where he continued acting, yes he loves the theater!
⦁ During WWII in 1941, he was left being the the sole surviving member of his family
⦁ His predecessor, Pope John Paul I reigned for only 34 days in 1978 and only a few suspected him to be the next pope
⦁ He is the youngest chosen pope in 132 years, at the age of 58
⦁ There are eight languages that he spoke: Polish, Italian, German, English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin
⦁ For two consecutive years (1981 and 1982), he was attempted to k!ll but unsuccessful
⦁ The beatification of St. John Paul II was last May 1, 2011 – Feast Day of Divine Mercy
⦁ No pope has beatified his predecessor, like what Pope Benedict XVI has done, during the last ten centuries of the Church history
⦁ St. John Paul II’s first miracle occurred in 2006, when French nun Sr. Marie Simon-Pierre was confined to her bed by Parkinson’s disease – it was reported that she was completely cured after fellow nuns prayed for the pope’s intercession
⦁ There were four other confirmed miracles attributed to him and was canonized as a Saint on April 27, 2014
