A lawmaker who is a former military serviceman warns that Duterte’s change of alliance might affect the AFP gravely.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is already confused because of the changes in the defense policy of the country under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.

According to Magdalo Partylist Rep. Gary Alejano, the confusion within the AFP members was brought about by Duterte’s attitude in dealing with allied countries, including the United States of America, as the country pivots leaning to China and Russia.

The lawmaker, who is a former military serviceman, warns that Duterte’s change of alliance might affect the AFP gravely.

According to Cong. Alejano, the movements of the defense strategy of the Philippines because of the pronouncements of the chief executive against the US is unusual.

Alejano warns that there is a great possibility that the training and education of Philippine soldiers will be gravely affected. Along with these effects is the change in strategies of the AFP.
