Bar Examinations 2016 Flocked By 6,000 Aspiring Lawyers

A total of 6,000 law graduates will take this year’s Bar examinations and a traffic plan will be put in effect to prevent streets’ congestion near the venue of the examinations.

The Supreme Court of the Philippines announced on Friday, November 4, that there are 6,000 aspiring lawyers who will venture their luck with the 2016 Bar Examinations on all four Sundays of November.

The 6,000 examinees are coming from different colleges and universities across the Philippines offering law courses, all gathering to the venue of this year’s Bar examinations which is the University of Santo Tomas (UST).

The venue of the annual Bar examinations used to be at the De La Salle University (DLSU) campus in Taft Avenue, Manila but was transferred to UST after an explosion outside of the DLSU during the 2016 examinations.

To avoid the traffic congestion along and around the UST area, several roads and thoroughfares in Manila will be closed on all Sundays of November.

According to the Manila Police District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MPDTEU), the westbound lane of España Boulevard from Lacson Street to P. Noval St. Will be closed to traffic from 5 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. on November 6, 13, 20 and 27, and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on November 27.

The stretch of Dapitan Street from Lacson to P. Noval will also be closed to motorists from 10 in the morning up to one in the afternoon.

Along España and Dapitan, the no parking policy and liquor ban will be imposed within the 100-meter radius of UST to avoid untoward incidents.

The Supreme Court will make sure that the bad weather will not hamper the Bar examinations this year as it will provide “a limited number” of shuttle buses and commuter vans to usher Bar takers and personnel to and from UST “in case of heavy rain in the morning of a Bar examination Day”.

According to the Supreme Court, “The SC shuttle buses shall be stationed at these areas as early as 5:00 a.m. and will leave at exactly 5:30 a.m”.
