Former Senator Osmeña said that Duterte’s opening of ties to China weakened the country’s claim to West Philippine Sea.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte just weakened the claim of the Philippines to the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea for the Chinese people) when he opened the ties of the country to China.
This is according to Former Senator Sergio Osmeña III, when asked about the bilateral relations that the Philippine Chief Executive has opened for China last week.
Osmeña believes that the whole world now looks down to the Philippines while the country’s claim to the disputed territory has weakened because the international community views the chief executive’s actuation as a softening of the heart.
President Duterte initially assured that the Philippines will continue to claim the disputed islands in the West Philippine Sea but he will not insist or confront the giant Communist country on it as of now but in due time.
