The DOE chief failed to convince the Commission on Appointments on some salient points of inquiry and so he failed to get his confirmation in return.
Mr. Alfonso Cusi failed to get a confirmation of his appointment as secretary of the Department of Energy (DOE) after he failed to provide the data requested by the senators who compose the Commission on Appointments.
Cusi was among those who were appointed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte when he assumed into office.
The members of the commission, threw some questions which Cusi tried to answer but could not suffice to give him the confirmation to the position.
Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson asked him for an update on the status of the rural electrification program of the DOE and wanted to know how many barangays and sitios across the Philippines had electric power.
Cusi said that the barangay electrification program of the department has reached 100 percent. He also assured that y 2020, the complete rural electrification is achievable.
Senator Lacson doubted Cusi’s answers and told him that several barangays and sitios are not powered yet.
