The CPP issued an “advise” that came as a warning to President Duterte not to push through with the Marcos burial as it would be like “spitting on the graves of martyrs”.
The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) issued an advise, which came as a warning, to President Rodrigo Duterte not to insist with allowing the remains of the late former strongman Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
According to the CPP, allowing the burial of Former President Marcos at the supposed “cemetery of heroes of the Philippines” would be an “act of contempt” against the historic judgment of the Filipino people against the dictator.
According to the Central Committee of the CPP, in giving former President Marcos the right to be buried at the Heroes’ Cemetery, “he would be virtually spitting on the graves of tens of thousands of martyrs” who offered their lives in the struggle to end the brutal, rotten and puppet dictatorship of Marcos.
The leftist organization said that the insistence of President Duterte on allowing Marcos to be laid in the supposed “Cemetery of the Heroes of the Philippines” will cast doubt on “his own assertions” of being a leftist or someone who identifies himselfs as being with the underground organization.
