Ending poverty should not be a competition because no one has the monopoly of intention to address one of the longest-standing problems in the country, affecting more than half of the population.
This is the statement of the Office of the Vice President following the tirades of the allies of President Rodrigo Duterte that Vice President Leni Robredo is “playing good girl” to get aid from international donors and foreign countries who are “dictating” the Philippines.
Georgina Hernandez, spokeswoman of the Office of the Vice President, said on a statement on Wednesday that, “The OVP that ending poverty should not be seen as a competition, but a collaboration of all capable parties”.
Hernandez also said that “nobody has the monopoly of good intentions, the desire to serve the public, and models of how to address poverty.
