Fake US Embassy In Ghana Runs For Decade Before It Is Shut Down

A fake United States embassy has been shut down in Accra, Ghana.

FAKE – A fake American Embassy in Accra, Ghana has been shut down. An official said that it has operated for about a decade already.

Around the world, there are several embassies in every country so it won’t be too hard for people to process their papers and as well as for travel and citizenship matters. Recently, a news report in Inquirer entailed that a fake embassy has been shut down in Ghana.

According to the report, an American official has expressed that the said fake embassy has been operating in Accra, Ghana. For around ten years, it has produced counterfeit visas for the people.

“This fake embassy made and printed counterfeit visas using expired visas as a blueprint,” Mark Toner, the spokesperson of the U.S. State Department, expressed.

Furthermore, Toner added that in the present, counterfeiting United States visas is a difficult thing that is why the ‘operation failed’. Walk-in appointments were not entertained in the said fake embassy as to a recent State Department release on November.

Based on the report,  Turkish and Ghanaian criminal gangsters were the employees of the embassy which has been described as an ‘orange-walled building’ based a State Department picture. The Turkish nationals spoke Dutch and English.

Furthermore, it is stated that a photo of U.S. Pres. Barack Obama was hung on the inside area of the building. The State Department stated, “The criminals running the operation were able to pay off corrupt officials to look the other way.”

Toner responded that the victims of the fake embassy might have felt ashamed to report the crime to the authorities when asked on how did the fake embassy was able to run for a long time.

He expressed, “They were duped, they were conned.”
