Metro Manila To Be Divided In 10 Sectors To Address Traffic Problem

Should President Rodrigo Duterte be granted emergency powers by the Congress, Metro Manila will be divided in 10 sectors to address traffic problems.

The Inter-agency Council on Traffic (I-ACT) is looking at the possibility of dividing Metro Manila into 10 sectors and having a single traffic code which motorists should follow to address the worsening traffic congestion.

The I-ACT held a three-day meeting, which started on Wednesday, at the University of the Philippines National Center for Transportation Studies. It was decided by the officials that should the Congress grant President Rodrigo Duterte emergency powers to solve the traffic problem, Metro Manila will be divided into 10 sectors.

The division of the capital is eyed to enable authorities to efficiently manage the traffic situation in Metro Manila.

The northern traffic sector will be composed of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valencia cities. While the eastern traffic sector will be composed of Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina and San Juan cities.

Manila City alone will form the western traffic sector.
