NHCP found out that the claim that the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. was a soldier is not true at all.
NHCP – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has recently defended the issue on the final resting place of the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. He expressed that he sees nothing wrong in laying down Marcos Sr. at Libingan ng mga Bayani for he was a soldier.
The reason of the President was where the investigation of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines rooted. The commission conducted a review through historians and historical archives as reported in GMA News Online.
Based on the report, the chairperson of NHCP, Maria Serena Diokno, said that in the review’s result, it is visible that the late President Marcos was not able to receive the medals that were claimed to have been received by him. Those medals were Silver Star, Distinguished Service Cross, and Order of the Purple Heart.
