While the Malacañan Palace recognizes the claims of an expert, it clarifies that the case of the Philippines is different than other countries.
The Malacañan Palace is not convinced on the claims of an expert that the anti-drug campaign launched by President Rodrigo Duterte only worsened the criminality and lawlessness in the Philippines.
Geoff Monaghan, a well-known investigator on narco-trafficking gangs, recently said that this kind of hardline anti-narcotics policies can only worsen the problem instead of finding solution for it.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella said that the administration recognizes the opinion and claims of the said expert and other experts but he emphasized the the situation of the Philippines is way different compared to other countries.
Abella said, the believe that the policies being implemented by Pres. Duterte are effective. He said that the said policies recognizes that illegal drugs is a problem in the country and is considered as a national security and as well as a public health issue.
The Palace emphasized that there are over 700,000 drug users who surrendered which ignited the concern of the public to the country’s welfare, contributions from abroad, local government efforts, faith-based interventions and other initiatives of small groups – all to contribute to the government’s campaign against dangerous drugs.
