HOLY WEEK DESTINATIONS – Here is a list of five(5) places in the Philippines that a lot of people visit during the Holy Week.

Now, the Philippines is observing one of the most popular religious events which is the Holy Week. It is in commemoration of the passion and the death of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who came to save the world.

In line with the Holy Week observance, a lot of people visit places that have meaningful activities for the event. There are at least five(5) widely-visit Holy Week destinations in the country.

1. Christ of the Divine Mercy, Misamis Oriental

People gather to witness the Catholic monument in El Salvador, Misamis Oriental which was built in 2008 based on Trekeffect. This well-known pilgrimage site holds 15.24-meter monument.

2. Simala, Cebu

One of the most famous Holy Week destinations in the Philippines is Cebu. A lot of devotees visit the Simala Church which is popular for the miraculous tears of the Blessed Mother Mary.

3. Bohol

One of the most popular festivals in the Philippines is the Moriones Festival which is held in Marinduque. This celebration that usually gathers both local and foreigner tourists is in commemoration of the passion and death of the Lord Jesus Christ.
