Etihad Pilot Delayed A Flight From UK To Australia
Etihad Airways, a leading airline based in United Arab Emirates, made headlines yesterday when the pilot decided to cancel the flight.
The pilot let the couple disembark the plane so that they could rush back to their dy!ng grandson’s side.
And the Etihad pilot is being praised for that.
Travel agent Becky Stephenson, who organized the couple’s flight, shared the detailed incident on the Facebook group Travel Gossip.
According to her, the couple has just stepped on the aircraft when suddenly they got a text message from their son-in-law saying that their grandson was inside the intensive care unit.
Prior to the text message, the couple sensed their was something wrong that’s why they kept their mobile phones switched on even after boarding the plane.
Once the couple confirmed the bad news, the concerned cabin crew quickly notified the pilot to stop the plane from taxiing so that the couple could disembark.
They also unloaded the couple’s luggage from the aircraft and escorted them to the terminal, arranged for a service transportation so they could rush off to the hospital.
The couple made it in time and were able to see their grandson before he passed away the next day because of an undisclosed condition.
The crew also told the couple that they could re-use their airline tickets to a later date.
The decision by the pilot to suddenly stop the plane over a long-haul flight was a wonderful thing to make, regardless of the consequences and complaints other passengers could have.
The news quickly spread in the social media, gathering praises and commendation.
This was truly an inspirational and heartwarming story for all of us, and for the whole team who are willing to go beyond their duties and responsibilities in order to help their passengers.
Kudos Etihad Airways!
