President Duterte Give Vietnamese Fishers A Warm Send Off Back To Hanoi
President Rodrigo Duterte gives a warm sendoff to 17 Vietnamese fishers back to Hanoi, they have been arrested about 2 months ago for poaching in the Philippines.
The Vietnamese fishermen were given hygiene kits, fuel, food provisions by President Duterte before leaving Sual wharf in Pangasinan back to Hanoi on Wednesday (November 02, 2016). The fishers chose to take their boats despite the government’s offer to send them via commercial flight.
On September 08, 2016, the Philippine Navy in Ilocos Sur intercepted the 17 Vietnamese fishers on board three vessels. The foreign fishermen violate the Philippine maritime laws but they explained that due to rough seas and bad weather they were forced to drift on Philippine waters.
After the state visit of President Duterte to Vietnam, the complaints to the fishers were dismissed. The Vietnamese Ambassador Truong Trieu Duong give thanks and gratitude for the kindness of the President.
