Leila De Lima Camp to File Case vs People Forcing Kerwin Espinosa

People Forcing Espinosa to Implicate De Lima in Illegal Drug Trade to Face Charges

The camp of Senator Leila De Lima will file a case against the people who are allegedly forcing Kerwin Espinosa.

According to De Lima’s spokesman, Rolly Peoro, they are still working on a case against individuals who reportedly persuaded accused drug lord Kerwin Espinosa to include her in the illegal drug trade when she was incarcerated at the National Bilibid Prison (NBP). Peoro explained in a television appearance that his client will not let her attackers off the hook.

When Espinosa withdrew his testimony against him, he said the senator was no longer surprised. Peoro stated that all those responsible for De Lima’s grave injustice will be brought to justice.

“I cannot tell yet what the next action of Sen. De Lima is. But as an advocate of justice, surely… she will not let this off the hook or taken for granted. We will surely take to justice all the persons involved in the great injustice done to Sen. De Lima,” Peoro stressed.

He speculated that one of the reasons for Espinosa’s departure from his testimony was President Rodrigo Duterte’s impending resignation. They always knew Espinosa was lying, he said, and it was just bad luck that it took so long for him to admit it.

“We always knew Kerwin was lying. It was just a matter of time before he tells the truth…We are just so unlucky it took him many years to do that,” he said.

Since his arrest in February 2017, De Lima has been held at the Philippine National Police (PNP) -Custodial Center at Camp Crame, Quezon City. In a written document, a detained suspected Visayas drug boss claims that he was “coerced, harassed, intimidated, and seriously frightened” into making all of his previous statements against De Lima.

This is an offshoot of the purported large narcotics network being managed allegedly from inside the New Bilibid Prison, and was first filed with the DOJ in December 2021. In her capacity as former Secretary of Justice, De Lima is facing two more charges of being an alleged conspirator in the Bilibid drug trade.
