Vico Sotto Urges Supporters to Convince Other Voters in a Civilized Manner
VICO SOTTO – The Pasig City mayor has reminded supporters of each candidate to convince voters in a civilized manner.
The Pasig City mayor restated his decision not to endorse any politicians running for national office in this year’s election in an interview with ABS-CBN. Mayor Vico has stated multiple times before and throughout the official campaign period for the 2022 elections that he will not become involved in national politics.
Sotto has been trending recently as a result of a tweet from Kakampinks, or fans of Vice President Leni Robredo, asking him to take a position against Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. However, according to the mayor, there is a better method to persuade a politician to support you.
He also expressed his displeasure with the manner in which supporters would encourage people to vote for their preferred candidate. The young mayor emphasized the importance of supporters being “polite” when persuading other voters.
“Ang pulitika, ang eleksyon, dapat kumbinsihan yan so let’s convince each other in a civilized manner, in a polite manner,” the young mayor said in an interview.
“Baka natu-turn off ‘yung ibang tao sa kanila dahil sa attitude nila na, ‘Kapag hindi namin kayo kasama, masamang tao kayo,’” he added.
This, in his opinion, is not the best way to persuade others to vote for the politician they are endorsing. Vico stated, “I don’t think that’s the correct technique to persuade people to vote for your candidate.”
Sotto is the nephew of the senator who is presidential contender Ping Lacson’s running partner, and his party, Aksyon Demokratiko, is led by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
