Clarita Carlos Expresses Reactions to Students “Walkout Classes” Under BBM Admin

Professor Clarita Carlos expresses her reactions toward the students planning “walkout classes” under the Marcos administration.

Clarita Carlos, a retired University of the Philippines (UP) professor, has a profound message for students planning to boycott courses throughout Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr’s presidency. Carlos told SMNI that she doesn’t think it’s a problem if pupils don’t show up.

Clarita Carlos Walkout Classes

Students who appear to be opposed to Marcos and Sara Duterte winning the election have announced that they will boycott classes. Under President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration, certain student groups have threatened to strike.

“Edi mag-walkout sila, karapatan naman nila ‘yun.” said Prof. Carlos.

However, she claims that the behavior of a few pupils will have no bearing on her class. She emphasized that pupils do not have to drop out; she claims that she will drop them out automatically if they hit 9 contact hours or are absent for three days in a row.

“Tatlong beses kang mag-absent out ka na, hindi mo na kailangan mag-drop. Ida-drop na kita automatically kasi ibig sabihin tatlong beses kang nag absent nine contact hours ang iwinala mo, napakahaba yang nine contact hours,” said the professor.

She also inquired about the student’s plans for the six years if they will not be studying. She added that if Vice President-elect Sara Duterte is elected President, pupils will be forced to postpone their studies for a period of 12 years.

“Kung mag-walkout ka, eh ‘di mag-walkout ka. Kailan ka babalik sa klase? Eh  ‘di maghintay ka ng anim na taon. Mag-construction worker ka muna diyan hanggang anim na taon,” said Carlos.

“Eh, paano ngayon kung si Sara Duterte ang susunod na presidente? Eh ‘di 12 years mong ipo-postpone ‘yang pag-aaral mo, “she added.

It will be remembered that while Marcos won as president, several student groups advised students not to attend courses. “No classes udner a Marcos Presidency. UP Students, Walk out!” The UP Office of the Student Regent yells.
