Anti-Graft Group Calls DepEd Secretary Briones To Prove DepEd Inspectors Free Trip To China
The Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Briones was called by an anti-graft group over the free trip given to DepEd inspectors.
Inspectors who were given a free trip to China by one of their bidders will be investigated by DepEd Secretary as ordered by an anti-graft group called Filipino Alliance for Transparency and Empowerment (Fate), a Securities and Exchange Commission-registered watchdog.
“Did the DepEd inspectors involved change the specifications to accommodate the bidder? When did the trip happen? What was the China trip for? Who were involved?” asked by the group quoted by Inquirer.
Previously, DepEd’s chairman of the agency’s Bids and Awards Committee was threatened that a case will be filed against them by a certain supplier named Multifocus Corp for the alleged ignorance on its complaint.
