Ronnie Dayan said on the hearing that relationship status with de Lima was at ‘signal number 1’ when he met Kerwin Espinosa.
The former driver-bodyguard of Senator Leila de Lima revealed the status of his relationship with the lawmaker at the time when he met the alleged drug lord Kerwin Espinosa.
This was disclosed by Ronnie Dayan when he faced the investigation of the House Committee on Justice on Thursday on the alleged connection of de Lima on illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison.
During the hearing, Dayan said their relationship was already on the rocks when he started receiving money from Kerwin in 2014 on behalf of the lady senator.
Upon the questioning done by Majority Floor Leader Rodolfo Fariñas, Dayan was able to talk about the status of their relationship after years of being together, even though he is married and has children.
Prior to this, Dayan recalled his and Espinosa’s initial meeting at the parking lot of SM Mall of Asia to receive the supposed payoff for De Lima in August 2014.
According to Dayan, he gave the paper bag containing the undisclosed amount of money to the former secretary of the Department of Justice at her Parañaque house.
Fariñas intervened and asked Dayan: “Noong mga panahon na yan malakas pa ang pag-iibigan niyo?”
“Medyo signal number 1 na lang po sir. Medyo mahina na po,” Dayan said in response to the question.
“Anong pinakamataas na scale na sinapit niyo?” Fariñas continued.
“Umabot din po siguro ng mga hanggang Signal No. 5 sir,” Dayan said.
The former driver-bodyguard of de Lima admitted on Tuesday that they had a seven-year relationship before he went to hiding in La Union until he was caught on Tuesday.
During the hearing, Dayan has admitted he has received money five times from Espinosa for De Lima in 2014.
He elaborated that Kerwin Espinosa handed him money for De Lima once in August 2014, once in October 2014, and three times in November 2014. He said their first four meetings was at a shopping mall in Pasay City.
The last time Espinosa gave money to him was at the parking lot of the area where Espinosa was then staying in the city of Baguio.
