Atom Araullo expressed his thoughts regarding the statement of Harry Roque that no Filipino can do scientific research at Benham Rise
Kapuso journalist Atom Araullo reacted to the statement of presidential spokesman Harry Roque that no Filipino can do scientific at Benham Rise.
This is following his previous statement that the China is right when it stated that the Philippines has no authority over the said seismically active undersea region and extinct volcanic ridge located in the Philippine Sea.
Due to that, the presidential spokesman received negative reactions from netizens and prominent people in society such as former Comelec Commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal.
The ex-public official said that Filipinos do not need China in order to conduct exploration in Benham Rise because it was already done by Oceana in partnership with local agencies, based on a previous report.
In line with the statement of Roque, Atom Araullo expressed his thoughts regarding the matter through his recent Twitter post.
The TV host shared a statement from the Agham Nasyunal or the Advocates of Science and Technology for the People.
The said group is against on what Harry Roque said because it was a form of insult to Filipino scientists who have worked hard for scientific explorations without adequate support from the Philippine government.
In addition the advocates also iterated that scientist must be commended for their efforts in strengthening the claim of the country on disputed territories such as the Benham Rise.
Atom Araullo agreed to the statement of Agham Nasyunal in contrary to what Harry Roque previously stated.
