Senator Leila De Lima cited Bato Dela Rosa’s statement that China is one of the major sources of illegal drugs entering the Philippines.
On Thursday (October 20, 2016), President Rodrigo Duterte announcement of boosting the economic ties with China and break up with the United States questioned by De Lima. The senator cited Dela Rosa’s statement that China is one of the major sources of drugs entering the country during women’s rights activists’ forum.
Leila exclaimed that they could unwittingly receive drug money, she also mentioned the South China Sea maritime dispute. The senator said that the Asian giant has disrespected the Philippines upon their territorial claim of Scarborough Shoal and she also questioned the kindness showing by Duterte to China.
De Lima emphasized the monumental ruling of Permanent Court of Arbitration regarding the disputed waters. The earth-shaking statement of Duterte in boosting ties with China received criticism from the former Justice Secretary during an open forum.
