Cocolisap Plagued More Than 3-M Coconut Trees In Basilan

Cocolisap Plagued more than 3-M coconut trees in Basilan according to Agricultural Secretary Manny Piñol as he said on Tuesday (September 13, 2016).

In the province of Basilan over 3 million coconut trees were plagued by coconut scale insects or popularly known as cocolisap. Piñol visited Basilan to check the gravity of infestation in coconut plantations, he said that cocolisap have been plagued more than half of the coconut trees.

Manny also said the thousands of affected farmers will be helped by government agencies and relieve solution for pests were discussed during their meeting.

Due to the infestation of coconut plantations the agricultural chief had committed to give an alternative livelihood to the affected farmers such as live stocks, seedlings, and 1, 000 fishing boats.
