World’s poorest president donates 90 percent of his monthly salary in charity and only lives on a farm and have only an austere lifestyle.
Most presidents from different countries can be seen having a luxurious and living lavish lifestyle that is common for the people for they’re looking up to the president.
The president of Uruguay is unique from other presidents for having an austere lifestyle by living on a farm and having his official car, a 1987 Volkswagen Beetle. Jose Mujica was known to be as the world’s poorest president who lives in a middle-class lifestyle.
In a landslide victory in 2009 election in Uruguay, Jose Mujica won as the new president of their country and take over the position in 2010. Despite earning $12,000/month Jose choose to live in his old modest house in a rural area outside Montevideo rather than living in the Presidential Mansion.
