Areas of Failure of Elections Now in Comelec Special Elections.
Comelec Special Elections. Selected villages in Visayas and Mindanao get the chance to cast their ballots as special elections are being held today where the Commission on Elections (Comelec) declared failure of elections.
After missing the May 9 Election due to various reason, about 20, 000 votes are expected to be added to the partial and unofficial tally of votes coming from the identified areas.
According to the Comelec, the unavailable ballots and the switching of ballots between two different precincts were among the reasons why they declared the areas under failure of elections.
Aside from this, areas that faced security issues also prompted the Comelec to declare failure of elections.
The Comelec had already requested the authority to secure peace in the conduct of the special elections. Police and military were directed to the areas.
On Wednesday, the Comelec released resolution for the special elections in the identified areas listed below which collectively have 52 clustered precincts:
Barangay Gabi, Cordova, Cebu — 1 clustered precinct, 436 of 772 registered voters
Maitum, Sarangani — 1 clustered precinct, 677 registered voters
Sta. Cruz, Marinduque — 1 clustered precinct, 621 registered voters
Barangay Mabuyong, Anini-y, Antique — 1 clustered precinct, 691 registered voters
Barangay Insubuan, San Remigio, Antique — 1 clustered precinct, 158 voters
Barangay Roxas, Lope de Vega, Northern Samar — 1 clustered precinct, 169 registered voters
Nagpapacao, Matuguinao, Western Samar — 1 clustered precinct, 285 registered voters
Binidayan, Lanao del Sur — all 26 clustered precincts, 7,845 registered voters
Pata, Sulu — 6 clustered precincts, 1,670 registered voters
Panglima Estino, Sulu — 10 clustered precincts, 4,058 registered voters
Tamparan, Lanao del Sur — 3 clustered precincts, 1,047 registered voters
Comelec en banc, however, added in the following day three more villages for failure of elections where a total of 2, 134 voters were affected.
Earlier, Comelec have already advised officials to suspend the proclamation if the votes coming from the special elections will largely affect the standing.
