PAGASA: Expect hotter days this coming weeks
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) recently advised all about the incoming warmer temperature these weeks. This may cause certain illnesses like exhaustion, skin-related conditions, and even stroke.
According to a report in Philstar, PAGASA administrator Vicente Malano said that it is expected to have warm and humid weather resulting to the rising of temperature as May approaches.
He also said that the temperature that is now being felt in the Philippines was from above average with high relative humidity. Malano also said that this is because of the Southwest monsoon season coming in May.
It is stated in the article that the highest record temperature that’s been recorded so far was 39.6 degrees Celsius in Echague, Isabela. It was recorded on April 14 this year.
Meanwhile, in Metro Manila, the warmest temperature last year was 36.7 degrees Celsius on May 13, 2015.
Many people flock towards the north going specifically in the “summer capital of the Philippines”, Baguio City to experience some coolness. But, recently, the temperature in the place reached for about 29 degrees Celsius recorded since last Sunday. It is also expected to go higher because of El Niño.
The El Niño phenomenon is expected to bring a warmer weather until the mid-2016. Thus, Malano said that the temperature will surely rise.
El Niño is known to be the unusual warm water in the Pacific Ocean. It then goes to the eastward going to the equator then going to the coast of South America. It then reaches to the shores of the Philippines and Indonesia resulting in warmer weather, thus changing the climate cycle globally.
