President Rodrigo Duterte still considers continuing the procurement of firearms, weapons and defense equipment from the United States of America, if the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) recommends so.
Continuing to acquire weapons from the Philippines’ seven-decades-old treaty ally is still a consideration for the Duterte administration, despite offers from China and Russia.
Duterte made the remark after breaking his vow to God that he would not cuss against the United States or resort to trash talking again.

In one part of his speech, Duterte toned down and said he is still considering continuing to acquire firearms from the Americans despite their criticisms against his crackdown against illegal drugs and criminality.
