Former First Lady Imelda Marcos Excited to Return to Malacañang Palace
The former First Lady Imelda Marcos expresses excitement to return to Malacañang Palace after a very long year.
Senator Imee Marcos, a daughter of the former First Lady, stated in an interview that the former First Lady is reportedly most eager to return to Malacanang Palace. Imee claims that her mother will commemorate her 93rd birthday in the Palace.
The planned swearing-in of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., who would succeed his father, the late President Ferdinand Marcos, Sr., as the nation’s 17th leader, is set for June 30. The Marcos family has lived in Malacanang for over two decades, it will be noted.
However, the EDSA People Power Revolution I in February 1986 forced them out of the Palace. When Marcos, Jr. presented the former first lady with the congressional resolution appointing him as the country’s 17th president, she was overjoyed.
“I have two presidents,” Imelda said while pointing to her pin with a picture of her husband.
