Jolo Revilla Alleged Vote-Buying in Cavite to Lead on Disqualification
Cavite Vice Governor Ramo “Jolo” Revilla III possibly face a disqualification case after being accused of vote-buying.
It’s now possible that the running congressman will be disqualified from the election. It was supposedly tied to suspicions of vote-buying against him, according to the report.
Jolo is vying for Cavite’s first district representative. Three citizens of Rosario, Cavite, who were represented by lawyers, submitted the petition for disqualification.
Helen Munggaya Alejo, Mary Ann Villania Pigante, Luningning Composanto Perlas, and Manilyn Flores Tantay Carmen Alcantara Valederama are the petitioners. Their lawyers at the Trillo, Ansaldo, and Maranon Law Offices submitted the petition for disqualification.
The petitioners claimed that during the campaign, the respondent approached them through his campaign ‘barkers’ on the same date, March 25, wearing his campaign shirt/uniform. The petitioners further claim that they were issued a registration form by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
According to the petition, the given form includes a piece of paper with respondent Revilla’s name and campaign emblem. In exchange for their support and votes in the May 9, 2022, National and Local Elections, they were promised “financial aid” from the DSWD, which was also touted to be “as good as cash.”
“That unlike their neighbors whom they personally saw to have filled up the forms in agreement to the vote-buying scheme, petitioners refused to do so knowing that it is wrong and against their principles,” it added.
