Kapamilya journalist Karen Davila recently revealed that she and her family had a traumatic experience in Siargao.
The eldest son of Karen named David had an accident when he was a having a surfing lesson and his trainer just left after the incident.
The ‘Headstart’ host shared on her Facebook Page the details of what happened and it was dreadful her family that when the accident took place, there was even no one to extend immediate help to them, based on a previous article.
Department of Tourism (DOT) Undersecretary Kat De Castro already extended help that her agency could extend through her comment on the post of Karen.
Based on another previous report, the Usec instructed the DOT Regional Director to address the matter.
In line with that, the Kapamilya journalist expressed her gratitude for the action from the DOT regarding her family’s traumatic experience in Siargao.
Karen shared a statement from the DOT official regarding the surfing instructor who taught her sons.
“The surfers referred to you by Isla Cabana, as per our Regional Director, are not DOT-Accredited.”
In addition, it was said that Governor Sol Matugas already ordered a week ago all the 9 municipalities in Siargao to observe proper waste management and to have rescue units standing by in crowded destinations.
The order from the provincial government was followed by the municipalities, however, the Mayor of General Luna, the area where the son of Karen Davila had an accident did not follow the said order.
“Nonetheless, both the provincial government and DOT has dispatched more teams to crowded areas such as Cloud 9, Magpupungko and the Blvd,“ Karen shared on her post.
Due to what Karen revealed on her Facebook Page, many netizens thanked her for exposing the real situation in Siargao.
