Lee Kwan Yew Once Rejected $3.3 million Bribe And Embarrassed US

Lee Kwan Yew once rejected a $3.3 million bribe in 1961, which is equivalent to $25 million today and embarrassed United States (US).

Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) offered the late founding Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kwan Yew, a $3.3 million bribe at 1961 to be hush in unsuccessful operation in their country. But in other hands, Lee stand firm in his dignity and turned down the offer and embarrass America.

During 60’s, Singapore was still young and in a fragile state, Lee still refused to receive the bribe from American agency and uncovered the CIA plot according to Redditt’s that was previously reported by New York Times in 1965.

CIA agents were trying to buy information from Singapore intelligence officials where they offered Lee a big amount of cash for political or personal use. Lee refused to CIA’s offered amount and think the future of his country instead he asked for $33 million for Singapore’s formal economic-development aid.
