The nurse wrote the letter after  President Aquino vetoed the bill that would raise the starting salary of nurses and would raise the standards of nursing profession.

The president has rejected the House Bill No. 6411 and Senate Bill No. 2720 entitled “An Act Providing for a Comprehensive Nursing Law Towards Quality Health Care System, and Appropriating Funds Therefor.”

According to MutyaRN, they are not only fighting for the salary increase, but they are also fighting for the dignity that nurses deserve.

“Mr President, this is not only about the salary grade that we are fighting for, this is about the work dignity that the nurses only deserve. We don’t ask for too much, we only begs for the exact, livable amount. We are not corrupt, we care, we love, we understand and we only deserve it.”

MutyaRN enumerated also the struggles of nurses, including the risk of their job, sleepless nights, the urged to work despite calamities and special occasions, while others are having their vacations.

Furthermore, Mutya RN dared the Chief Executive to have himself admitted in a public hospital to “see how cruel your government to nurses is.”

MutyaRN admitted that she was one of the supporters of the president, calling himself a member of “Yellow Army.” She said that her support for the administration has ended after he vetoed the bill.

“At the end, you will know that the last man or woman standing beside your bed is a nurse and not your (kumpare and companeros,) the {nurse}  will insert your intravenous catheter, she will tuck your bed, she will wipe your poop, she will give your medications, will clean your wounds, will provide you food, will fight for your rights, will protect you from falls and accidents, even you failed them.”

“Mr. President, I want to close this letter by saying; you have no heart . You have no soul.” she said in conclusion.

  1. The author is just expressing what an RN truly deserves as a government employee which should be comparable to other employees and should commensurate with the kind of service they are giving. I have been a witness of their dedication and I salute them especially those working in the provincial hospitals.

Nasa bracket yan like teacher..engr..at other professionals.

  4. Ang hinihingi lang naman livable salaries, but look at the executives of SSS who earn a whooping monthly salary of close to million or more than a million.

  5. Walang puso na Abnoy. Walang respeto sa mga nurses, obviously. No wonder mga nurses sa Pinas naga-abroad for greener pastures. No doubt about that.
