Duterte-Obama Meeting Will Be Possible Through APEC Summit In Peru
Meeting between President Duterte and US President Obama will be possible on Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Peru on November.
On Thursday (October 27, 2016), US President Obama’s bilateral meetings for the Summit were still not clear pointed out by White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest in a press briefing. He also said that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte did not yet commit to attend the APEC conference.
Last September, during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit, the scheduled bilateral meeting of Duterte and Obama was canceled at the last-minute. The US President canceled the meeting due to cursing of President Duterte
Duterte launches a series of tirades against Obama due to criticism of his war against illegal drugs amid Extra Judicial Killings (EJK). The president announced later that he regrets his statements against Obama then the two leaders have a conversation in gala dinner at the summit meeting and have an exchange of pleasantry, according to the report.
