Migz Zubiri Gives “Study Hard” Advice to Senator-Elect Robin Padilla
Reelected Senator Migz Zubiri advices the senatorial frontrunner Robin Padilla to study hard for the constitutional amendment in the Senate.
The Senate Majority Leader, in an interview with TeleRadyo, recommended Padilla study hard because he may lead the constitutional amendment in the Senate. Based on his television and radio remarks, Zubiri believes Padilla is requesting the constitutional amendment.
“Wala pong gustong maghead ng committee na yan and therefore kung yan po talaga ang adhikain niya, he might shine. Let us listen to his arguments, dapat pag-aralan niyang mabuti itong Consti amendments and revision of laws,” he said.
“Remember revision of laws din yan so yung mga papalitan na batas, yung aamyendahan na batas, lalo na sa mga issues on criminal law and other corporate law. Dadaan sa kaniya yun,” Zubiri added.
A lawyer, according to Zubiri, is in charge of the committee. If Padilla wants to be shine, Zubiri should advice the senator to “study hard” because the people he’s talking to are justices and constitutionalists.
“So baka magpakitang gilas ang ating kaibigan na si Senator Robin Padilla but I have to appeal to him and of course bigyan ko po ng payo at advise, mag-aral nang mabuti. Kailangan mag-aral ka nang mabuti dyan. Kasi mga kausap mo dyan justices eh, constitutionalist,” added the Senate majority leader.
He believes it is acceptable to recruit a large number of lawyers because the Senate already has a large number of lawyers, but that Padilla will speak because lawyers are unable to speak. Padilla should also learn legal jargon, according to the senator, because it is highly complicated.
“So you have to know the legal terminologies. Hindi puwedeng i-simplify ang napaka-complicated na legal terminologies, particularly on revising laws and the Constitution. Lalo na kung ang ka-debate mo ay constitutionalist, mga dean of the law school of different colleges,” he added.
Zubiri, on the other hand, believes Padilla can handle it. Meanwhile, Padilla’s appointment to the position is not official, according to Zubiri, because Senate members will still vote for him.
