Mike Enriquez Illness – The late veteran broadcaster Mike Enriquez went through a lot when it came to his health as he battled against his diseases.
Mike started his career in the broadcasting arena in 1969. He earned his degree in Commerce from De La Salle University. His first job was as a disc jockey and he was known as DJ Baby Michael. Eventually, he crossed over to TV. He was known as one of the news anchors of the Kapuso primetime news program 24 Oras with seasoned broadcast journalists Mel Tiangco and Vicky Morales.
Mike also established his name as a prominent personality in investigative journalism. His show Imbestigador earned a lot of recognition. He also had shows on radio. The late broadcaster was the host of DZBB’s Super Balita sa Umaga and Saksi sa Dobol B.
Mike Enriquez was also the President of RGMA Network, Inc. and GMA Network’s Senior Vice President and Consultant for Radio Operations. His death definitely saddened a lot of news and current affairs personalities not just from the Kapuso network but also from those who are from different TV stations.
Losing a prominent name in the broadcast industry also brought sadness to many netizens. It is known to many that Mike has been a victim of death hoaxes in the past because of his health problems. However, on August 29, 2023, it was confirmed that he already passed away.
As of this writing, there is no news report yet regarding Mike’s cause of death. However, it is known to many that he was hospitalized before and this was among the reasons why he had to take a break from doing news programs.
Based on the report from CNN Philippines, Mike received treatment for kidney disease and underwent a heart bypass operation back in 2018. Then, he underwent a kidney transplant in December 2021.
Because of this, he had a three-month isolation period. He was back at work in March 2022 for the coverage of the national and local elections. Before undergoing a kidney transplant, Mike would undergo dialysis three or four times a week.
