As dawn breaks on February 26, 2024, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issues its latest weather forecast. The country remains under the influence of two weather systems: the Northeast Monsoon affecting Luzon and Easterlies affecting the rest of the nation. Here’s what you need to know about the forecasted weather conditions and their potential impacts across different regions.
In Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon provinces, cloudy skies with light rains are expected, attributed to the Northeast Monsoon. However, these conditions are unlikely to cause significant disruptions.
For Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are anticipated, also due to the Northeast Monsoon. While residents may experience sporadic rainfall, no major impacts are foreseen.
The rest of the country, including the Visayas, Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro, will occasionally have cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Easterlies and localized thunderstorms influence these weather patterns. Residents should remain vigilant, as severe thunderstorms could lead to flash floods or landslides.
Regarding wind and coastal water conditions, Northern Luzon and the eastern section of the country can expect moderate to strong winds from the Northeast, resulting in moderate to rough seas. Meanwhile, the rest of the nation will experience light to moderate winds, primarily from the Northeast to the North, with slight to moderate coastal waters.
Specifically, the Bicol region, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains. In Northern Samar, isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are forecasted. Both regions will encounter moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas.
Throughout the Visayas, Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains or rain showers and/or thunderstorms are expected. Residents should prepare for moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas in these areas.
While most regions will experience relatively stable weather conditions, residents must remain alert, especially in areas prone to thunderstorms. By staying informed and prepared, individuals can better navigate any weather-related challenges that may arise.
