The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported the presence of a Low-Pressure Area (LPA) situated approximately 1,375 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon, specifically at coordinates 22.5°N, 135.0°E. Additionally, the Southwest Monsoon, known locally as “Habagat,” continues to affect Luzon and the western section of the Visayas.
Forecast Weather Conditions:
Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan: These areas are expected to experience cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rains and thunderstorms, primarily due to the Southwest Monsoon. Residents in these regions are advised to be vigilant as there is a possibility of flash floods or landslides, especially in areas prone to heavy rainfall.
Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Western Visayas, and Negros Island Region: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are forecasted for these areas, also due to the effects of the Southwest Monsoon. Although the rains may be less frequent compared to the Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan, there remains a risk of flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
The rest of the country: The rest of the Philippines will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, caused by localized thunderstorms. As with other regions, the potential for flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms exists, and residents are advised to take necessary precautions.
Forecast Wind and Coastal Water Conditions:
Throughout the country, light to moderate winds will prevail, coming from the southeast to the southwest. Coastal waters are expected to be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters. Mariners and small seacraft operators should stay updated on weather bulletins to ensure safe navigation.
General Flood Advisories:
As of 6:00 AM, flood advisories have been issued for several regions:
- Region 1 (Ilocos Region)
- Region 3 (Central Luzon)
- Region 10 (Northern Mindanao)
Residents in these regions are advised to be alert and prepared for possible flooding, especially in low-lying areas and near riverbanks. Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are ready to respond in case of emergencies.
Pagasa continues to monitor the weather conditions closely and will issue updates as needed. The public is encouraged to stay informed through official channels and to follow the advice of local authorities to ensure safety during this period of unpredictable weather.
