DOJ Official Instructed To File Raps Vs PhilHealth Exects Tagged In Corruption Allegations
PHILHEALTH CORRUPTION ALLEGATIONS – An official from the Department of Justice (DOJ) said he was told to file charges against those linked in PhilHealth’s corruption allegations.
Recently, netizens have ramped up their campaign to hold PhilHealth accountable for the anomalies within the company. Along with this, Justice Undersecretary Adrian Sugay was also instructed to file complaints within this week.
What remains is to pursue the criminal complaints against PhilHealth officials. My office is finishing up complaint on the reimbursement mechanism, said Sugay.
Meanwhile, in the report of the investigations regarding PhilHealth’s alleged anomalies, it recommended charging criminal and administrative cases versus PhilHealth’s top officials. This included, among others:
- Former PhilHealth President Ricardo Morales who resigned from his post due to health issues
- Senior Vice President for Information Management Sector Jovita Aragona
- Senior Vice President for Health Finance Policy Sector Israel Francis Pargas
- Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Arnel De Jesus
Following this, President Duterte immediately approved the recommendations of the report. Along with this, the evidence gathered during the probe found the officials violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
I’m sorry for them but they have to undergo a trial. Although, they can always prove their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt…The presumption of innocence still attaches, but the report of another agency says otherwise, Duterte said.
Additionally, Sugay said that PhilHealth Task Force is willing to work with the House to pursue the complaints against the officials of the state-run insurance firm.
