Pnoy To Lead The 118th Years PH Navy Anniversary
President Benigno Simeon Aquino III held the 118th year of founding of the Philippine Navy in conjunction with the inauguration of the three landing craft heaviest or LCH from Australia during the ceremony today (June 1).
According to AFP Spokesman Brig. Gen, Restituto Padilla, the newly purchased second-hand ship from Australia is part of implementing naval modernization of the country under the Aquino administration.
Among the highlights of the anniversary of Phil. Navy is the inauguration of the three former Australian ship to be baptized as the Ships Republic of the Philippines or BRP Agta (LC 290); BRP IwaK (Ic 289) and BRP Waray (LC-288).
He added that the commissioning ceremony for the new ship will be held at Pier 13, Manila South Harbor where President Aquino as a guest of honor and guest speaker.
With the theme, “Protecting Our Seas, Securing Our Future” is one of the last attended by the President of AFP before the end of its term on June 30 where the official oath as the new Commander-in-Chief Rodrigo Duterte.
According to Padilla, the Chief Executive to attend the celebration of the Independence Day on June 12, 2016, although it did not witness the imminent anniversary of the Philippine Air Force set out in the first week of July.
