15 COCs Left to be canvassed to proclaim winners
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) sitting as the National Board of Canvasser (NBOC), has declared that there are only 15 COCs left to be canvassed to proclaim the winning aspirants in the senatorial and party-list positions respectively.
The sect has identified places in which Certificates of Canvass has been held through special elections until Monday, May 16. Christian Robert Lim, the Comelec Commissioner named Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu, Apayao, Negros Occidental, Marinduque, Zamboanga del Norte, Cebu, Sarangani, Agusan del Sur, Leyte, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, and Antique.
However, there are also areas ordered to be “quarantined”. Atty. Consuelo Diola, Comelec Secretary said votes from Laguna and Southern Leyte has to be counted yet. These areas awaits for the respective chairmen of the Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBOC) to arrive for the official canvassing. Failures in the transmission of votes from the Pre-Election Logical Accuracy Test (PreLAT) has resulted COC from Laguna to be quarantined while two towns from southern Leyte were not able to be included in the counting.
Consequently the decisions of political parties with regards to the withdrawing of their manifestations on their notice of discrepancies found in the number of votes of some of the candidates during the canvassing proceedings are being waited which involves the COCs of six provinces indicated by the body officials namely, Zamboanga del Sur, Ilocos Sur, Benguet, Iloilo, Misamis Oriental, and Nueva Ecija.
Meanwhile, verification on the votes received by each senatorial candidate and party-list groups have been conducted by the subcommittee on Sunday.
