Ex-President Erap Estrada Defeated by Isko Moreno in Election 2019
ERAP ESTRADA – Former President and outgoing Manila City Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada gave a message for Isko Moreno following his election defeat.
One of the famous political figures in the Philippines is former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada. More commonly known to the public as Erap, after he was released over issues regarding his term as the President, he sat as mayor of Manila.
For the Election 2019, Erap previously filed a candidacy seeking for re-election as Manila mayor. His rival for the positions were former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim and actor-turned-politician Isko Moreno.
Isko Moreno and former Pres. Erap Estrada were allies before. Undeniably, a lot of people believe that Isko also have a high chance of winning the mayoralty race.
The May 13 Election has passed and Isko Moreno defeated former Pres. and outgoing Manila Mayor Erap Estrada and former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim.
In a statement, Erap expressed his congratulations to the Manila mayor-elect.
Based on a report on GMA News citing the network’s State of the Nation with Jessica Soho, in his statement, the former President expressed his well wishes for Isko.
“I congratulate the new mayor and I wish him all the best for the good of the people of Manila,” he said.
According to the report, Erap also expressed that he will “prepare the smooth turnover of the city government” and he thanked his supporters who stood by him in his years in politics.
“I wish to thank all those who stood by me for the last five decades of my political life,” the former President said.
