Bongbong Marcos Tops Latest SWS Vice Presidential Survey

Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has topped the latest vice presidential survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) from March 30 to April 2, 2016.

Released on Monday, April 11, 2016, the most talked about and controversial vice presidential bet who’s under People’s Reform Party with Mirriam Defensor Santiago as presidential ally dominated with 26% in the latest poll commissioned by Business World.

Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero gained the second spot with 21% followed by Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo with 19%.

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano landed on the fourth place with 13% while Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and Senator Gringo Honason tied with 5%.

The latest poll was administered on a face-to-face basis with 1,500 random respondents from the Balance Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and Metro Manila.

Political analyst Professor Edmund Tayao told dzMM in an report published by ABS-CBN News that Bongbong Marcos may have garnered more supporters because of the way he handle negative criticisms against him.

“Habang pinupukol mo nang pinupukol at ang balik naman sa’yo ng pinupukol mo ay hindi iyung inaasahan mong magagalit, mag-iinit ng ulo at magiging mahina ang dating e mahina ang nangyayari. Kaya sa kabilang banda, hindi humuhina kundi bagkus ay lumalakas,” he quoted.

“Sa lahat ng mga kandidato naman, si Senator Bongbong ang nauna talagang umikot at nagpakilala ulit bilang isang senador at isang batang Marcos, lalo na noong kasagsagan ng usapin tungkol sa Bangsamoro Basic Law,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has topped the same survey via presidential slot with 27%, followed by Grace Poe with 23%.

Vice president Jejomar Binay clinched on the third place with 20% while Mar Roxas whose running under the Liberal Party landed on the fourth spot with 18%.

Miriam Defensor Santiago on the other hand landed on the last spot with only 3%.
