Ceasefire is possible if Rodrigo Duterte wins, says Jose Maria Sison.
Founder of Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) Jose Maria Sison admitted that he sees the possibility of ceasefire between the rebels and Philippine government if the tough-talking Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte will be elected as the president.
In an interview with GMA News, Sison said that he has talked with the PDP-Laban standard-bearer and they discussed several issues
He also said that may return to the country after 20 years of living exile in the Netherlands under Duterte Administration.
The statement comes after the National People’s Army (NPA) returned the five abducted policeman with the help of Duterte. Sison also said that he thanked the Mayor for helping in the negotiations.
In an online interview with ABS-CBN News, Sison said that he and Duterte discussed plans to release political prisoners from the administration of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino.
“We talked about the need to resume the peace negotiations and release the political prisoners unjustly imprisoned by the Arroyo and Aquino charged in violation of the Hernandez political offense doctrine and the Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees,” he said.
Furthermore, Sison also said that they are good friends since Duterte was his student in the Lyceum of the Philippines. According to him, Duterte promised to set a meeting with him abroad if he will be elected this May 9. He is confident that Duterte will fulfill his promises if he wins the presidency.
Jose Maria Sison is the current chief political consultant of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP).
