Less than six weeks before the election, a lot of people were surprised after hearing several reports that senator Chiz Escudero is endorsing Camarines Sur represntative Leni Robredo in what seems to be an April Fool’s joke. This issue has received mixed reactions from the online community.
The 46-year-old law-maker is running with neophyte senator and presidential frontrunner Grace Poe, while Len Robredo’s runningmate is former DILG secretary Mar Roxas under the Liberal Party.
The issue came after a political advertisement was uploaded on the largest video-sharing site YouTube by a channel named “Samahang Tsinelas.” As of writing, the 30-second video titled has already been viewed for more than 16,000 times and counting.
In the clip, Chiz Escuder was seen supporting his rivals, saying the words “Ang bise presidente ko, may paninindigan, matapang at hindi umuurong sa laban.”
The former Sorsogon representative is speaking on the video while photos of Leni Robredo were seen as he speaks. In the end, he hinted: “Ang bise presidente ko may “B”
The video was edited and it was found out that the original clip of Chiz Escudero was used to endorse Vice President Binay in 2010 elections, who won over Mar Roxas in the vice presidential race.
Samahang Tsinelas, who edited the video, is a group supporting Leni Robredo. They also published the video on their Facebook page with a caption: “Wow! Thanks for the support, Senator Chiz! Maraming salamat sa pagtiwala sa kandidato namin na marunong, mahusay, at matino. So… aatras na ba si Sen. Escudero? Abangan…”
