Gibo Teodoro told the reporters and ABS-CBN News that he was surprised by the offer.

On Monday, he was among the dignitaries and politicians who wen to Davao City to congratulate Duterte.
Teodoro said that he asked Duterte to give him time to decide and think about the offer. He added that he will consult his family and other commitments before he can make a decision.
“I answered that it’s not a decision I can make alone. I have to consult my family and a lot of commitments I had and have made,” he said.
While he refused to say when he can decide, Teodoro said he would answer it at the “soonest possible time.”
Teodoro also served as the secretary of the Department of National Defense under the administration Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. He also ran for the President in 2010, but lost to his cousin outgoing president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
Teodoro was among the personalities rumored to join the cabinet of presumptive President.
While there were already reports that he might join Duterte’s administration, Teodoro said he only received the formal invitation when he met with the outgoing Mayor.
